Our vision is for all children leaving Weston Point to be physically literate and with the knowledge,skills and motivation necessary to equip them for a healthy,active lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity and sport.
Sport Premium is an amount of money which the government has agreed to allocate to schools.The funding amount received by schools is based upon the number of children of primary age at the school. The Sport Premium must be used to increase the quality & breadth of PE & Sport provision, and increase participation in PE & Sport.
At Weston Point Community Primary School, Mr Flanders is the P.E. and Sport Leader with responsibility for developing sport and effective use of Sport Premium Funding. Our school strives to promote healthy and active lifestyles and aim to provide sporting opportunities for all our pupils. We welcome the additional funding, which will further enhance our provision and provide additional opportunities for increased participation.
The 2016-2017 Sport Premium funding will be used for:
1) Investing in HBC Basic Service Level Agreement which provides the school with the following:
Specialist coaches to introduce the children to new sports .This year Archery, Multi Cultural sports , child/parent participation
Access to a limited amount of transport
Participation, inclusion and excellence opportunities
CPD (staff training) for curriculum physical education
Promotion and development of links to local sports clubs
Development and running of specialist sports activity days
2) Purchase of specialist sport equipment
3) Course attendance and Subject Leader training for MrFlanders.
4) Opportunities for children to participate in outdoor and adventourous activities
5) After school specialist sports clubs Healthy Hero`s.
6) Swimming sessions for years 3, 4 5 6 (part funded).
7. implementation of The Rawmarsh Sports Curriculum Programme
8. Playground marking ie netball court marking , playground marking for additional games
9.Purchase of trophies and medals for in school competitions
Evidence of Impact:
The impact of Sport Premium Funding is extremely promising and the funding has already impacted our school in the following ways:
Increased attendance at after school sport clubs Higher levels of pupil interest and enjoyment in sport and sport-related activities
Improved Skill levels with teachers clearly focussed on developing sporting skills within each lesson and across a course of lessons
Higher numbers of pupils participating in intra-school competitive events
Increased engagement of staff in our school's P.E. and Sport initiative.
