As part of our Literacy work we have started to read Michael Morpurgo's, The butterfly Lion. We have been looking at the key features of monologues and diaries with a view to writing our own. The children will soon be learning about fronted adverbials and how to use them to make their writing more interesting.

We are currently looking at place value, addition and subtraction in Numeracy.
In Year 4, the children are required to sit a times tables check in the summer term. The purpose of this check:
'is to determine whether pupils can fluently recall their times tables up to 12, which is essential for future success in mathematics. It will also help your child’s school to identify pupils who may need additional support.'
Below is a link to information provided by the testing standards agency about the check.
Parent information about the time table check.
At Weston Point, we encourage the children to access TTrockstars as frequently as possible. It provides an interactive platform where the children can improve their accuracy and speed when reaclling their times tables.
Our topic this half term is Tropical Rainforests.
In Geography, we have started to look at where they are located; using maps to discover in which continents and countries they can be found. The children will also learn about the layers of the rainforest and the water cycle.
In Science this half-term we will be learning about States of matter.

In the event of a school closure due to Covid 19, learning resources for Year 4 will be posted in this section of the class page. This will include a weekly overview of the subjects to be covered with supporting resources for the children to complete.
